Installation of Altar Servers

New members installation

On January 26th, 2019 could have been a regular vigil Mass at the Saint Martin of Tours church,  Philipsburg. But there was something special added. On that day 6 candidate altar servers where officially installed into the ministry of altar servers. The candidates installed for the 2018-2019 school year are:

  • Charlynaisha John (St Dominic Primary School)
  • Josue Reales (St Joseph Primary School)
  • Justice Barlette (Sr Borgia Elementary School)
  • Nichelle Richardson (St Dominic Primary School)
  • Royce Fernandez (St Dominic Primary School)
  • Tiara Hodge (St Joseph Primary School)

The candidates formed part of he entrance procession and went to their reserved pews while Fr Adam and the other altar servers serving that day went up on the sanctuary. The Mass continued as normal until after the homily when the installation of the candidates took place. The coordinator of the ministry was called forth. From the ambo the coordinator called the candidates by name to come forward and stand in front of the altar, facing the congregation.

Raising their right hands they were asked by Fr Adam about their seriousness and devotion in joining the ministry to which they promised in front of everyone present in church. After making their promises and the congregation being witness to it, one by one they went to the altar where each received their own certificate to sign. Thereafter they went into the sacristy and came back out standing in front of the altar wearing their albs ready to serve.

Together they all received their final  blessings where a prayer was done over them and being blessed with holy water. The congregation welcomed the newest members of the ministry who stayed on the sanctuary to serve the remainder of the mass together with the other altar servers.
